Bone Grafting

Lost teeth and severe gum disease can lead to a loss of bone mass in your jaw and even make it difficult for our dentists to place certain dental restorations. At Grottoes Family Dentistry, we offer bone grafting in Grottoes, Virginia, to give you a healthier and stronger smile. To see if this treatment would be right for you, call 540-249-4242 for an appointment with Dr. Dylan Hall or Dr. Spenser Briggs.

When you lose a tooth or have developed a more severe stage of periodontal disease, the supporting bone tissue of your jaw may begin to deteriorate and shrink, making your teeth unstable and increasing your risk of tooth loss. Our dentists can provide bone grafting to increase your bone density and help you begin the process of regaining your oral health and function. Bone grafting is typically recommended prior to implant placement to ensure that your implant and teeth remain stable in your mouth, though it may also be included as part of your periodontal treatments.

When you receive a bone graft, our dentists will take a piece of bone from another area of your jaw or body and transplant it into the affected area. Your jawbone then integrates and grows together with the grafting bone tissue to create a stronger and more stable foundation. While the best results are achieved using your own bone tissue, artificial bone material or bone fragments from a tissue bank may also be used if needed.

We welcome you to call our office if you have any questions about bone grafting and to schedule your consultation with our dentists. We are committed to helping you regain your oral health and smile.
